The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) began the noise barrier public involvement process on the I-43 North-South project in Fall 2020.
This included direct mailings to those in the immediate vicinity of the potential barriers, a project video explaining the noise barrier process, and certified mailing packages, including ballots, to those residents who were identified by the DOT as benefitted receptors.
106 properties were eligible to vote with 71 receptors participating where 62 voted in favor of the wall and 9 properties voted against.
For more on the voting process and benefitted receptors, please visit the I-43 website.
